$18.0B wasted
Govt acts on less than 2% of ANAO recommendations — $18B in waste found, not recovered
Over a decade, ANAO audits identified $18 billion in Commonwealth waste, inefficiency, and non-compliance. The government own accountability body found the problems. Department responses promised action. Senate Estimates showed less than 2% of major recommendations were fully implemented within 2 years. The Auditor-General writes the report. Nobody does the follow-up. Your $18 billion. Found. Not recovered.
